What length does my hair need to be for extensions?
| |
| You're
hair must be at least 3 inches in length to hold extensions properly.
If it is quite short you should be prepared for the possibility of
odd braids or extensions to slip, especially along the nape of your
neck where hair is often shorter and thinner. Regular maintenance
visits will help to avoid this happening. |

How
long will extensions last?
| |
| |
Braids, synthetic dreads
and loose extensions will last roughly 2 - 3 months depending on your
hair type and length. However this can vary, as some people may find
their hair grows much faster due to the weight of any synthetic hair
added. Regular maintenance visits to tighten the extensions will ensure
they last longer.
Extensions can
feel quite tight to start with, and sometimes a little sore, but
they will soon loosen up as your hair grows out and your head gets
used to the change.

What
hair types are suitable for extensions?
| |
| |
Most hair types are suitable for extensions. If you have very fine
hair, or it has thinned as a result of bleaching we recommend
lightweight extensions (such as wool dreads), alternatively thinner,
micro-braids may be more suitable to reduce the risk of braids
slipping, please enquire for an accurate quote.
If you suffer
from Migraines, Epilepsy, neck problems or skin conditions of the
scalp some styles may be unsuitable due to the weight. Synthetic
(handmade) dreads and more lightweight extensions (wool) would also
be suitable in this case.

My
head is itchy, can I wash my hair with extensions in? |
| |
| |
Yes.
You can purchase products made specifically for use with braids and
synthetic dreads, including every day sprays and spray-in shampoos
and conditioners which can be lightly rinsed out. When washing with
such products you need to ensure no residue is left on your scalp,
as this can cause more itching. Witch Hazel gel and Tea Tree
treatments are also highly recommended.
You won't want to wash your hair everytime you shower or
have a bath, so it is also a good idea to invest in a shower cap.
Braids
and dreads will be perfectly fine if you don't wash them. Using
braid sprays alone will help reduce itching, but in most cases your
head will begin to settle after the first 2-3 weeks and become less
itchy anyway. If you choose to use braid shampoo you will only need
to wash your hair every two weeks or so, you can also use your normal
shampoo if you dilute it first.
It's best to
let your extensions dry naturally after washing, but if you choose
to use a hairdryer ensure it is on a LOW heat as most types of synthetic
hair will melt when subjected to high temperatures!

How
do I look after my extensions?
| |
| |
Regular
maintenance visits will maximise the life-span of any extensions.
In such visits we will re-tighten 2-4 rows of extensions at a time,
meaning you can keep the extensions for much longer than usual.
Be
wary of tying your hair too tight into ponytails, or putting it
up too often, as this can cause slippage and result in extensions
falling out.
If
you have loose extensions which are attached at the root, make sure
you use a soft bristle brush and support your hair whilst brushing
to ensure the bonds are not ripped apart.
Braid
sprays will also help to reduce 'fuzziness' and help keep your braids
or dreads looking neat. It is also a good idea to wrap the extensions
up while you sleep (for example, by wearing a bandana), or you may
wish to switch to satin pillowcases.

I
want my extensions for a certain date, will you be able to do them?
| |
| |
I work on an
appointments basis, so it's best you book early to avoid
disappointment. Appointments can be made by phone or email only. In
some cases you may be required to make an appointment for a
consultation beforehand, in order to leave a deposit and choose
colours. |

How
long will they take to put in? |
| |
| |
Certain styles
will take longer than others, and due to different hair types each
person is individual.
A full head
of standard braids will usually take around 4-5 hours, whereas a
head of double-ended synthetic dreads will take between 1-1.5hours.

Do
I need to supply my own synthetic hair or dreads? |
| |
| |
No,
I order my stock. If you require a certain colour or material I do not have in stock, feel free to ask, and
I can make an order
on you're behalf.
If you already
have synthetic dreads or other materials you would like in your
hair, I will be happy to use them and reduce the overall cost accordingly.

Can
I get a refund if I'm not happy? |
| |
| |
I
don't offer refunds. I cannot be held responsible if extensions are
not looked after properly, or you decide you just don't like you're
new style. I cannot restock hair due to health and safety issues.
Before I begin any work I'll conduct a short 'consultation' to ensure
you are completely certain about the style you have chosen.
I'm happy
to fix small problems (individual braids slipping or falling out)
so feel free to contact me should this be the case.
