Braids

The best results
are achieved by braiding with added synthetic hair. This allows
for multiple colours to be used, and will result in longer lasting
braids (usually up to 3 months, sometimes longer). If you only have
your natural hair braided it may only last around 1 month, and the
ends must be tied off using elastic bands. However, if I braid
using synthetic hair we can heat seal the ends safely and neatly
using either a cigarette lighter or professional braid sealer.
As with most types of extensions, we start from the hair at your
neckline, and work our way to the front...ensuring hair is sectioned
using the 'brick-work' method to allow for minimum scalp visibility.
In some cases we may make our braids much thinner than usual, as
it is often required for client's with very little or fine hair.
We start our
braids using a 4-strand 'box braid' method, which results in far
less braid slippage and longer lasting braids.
I usually complete a full head
of braids in 4-5 hours time...however sometimes it may be longer
if you have extra thick hair or choose extra long braids.

Curly
Extensions

Curly
extension hair is available in a few different varieties - we tend
to work mainly with 'classy curl' and 'ziggy' synthetic hair, both
of which are available in natural colours only (blondes, browns, black
and burgundy)
We braid the extension hair to the same length as your natural hair,
tie-off using an elastic band and leave the synthetic hair to hang
loose. If required we can leave a few strands of the synthetic hair
to hang loose (and not incorporate within the braids), in order to
make the curls appear fuller and more natural. This is completely
down to client preference.
Curly synthetic hair may become frizzy at the ends after a few weeks,
and requires maintenance more often than braids - however, if you
regularly attend maintenance visits the extensions can last just as
long as braids. |

Cornrows |

Cornrows
are a form of french plait, and are braided very tightly to the head.
They are very popular at present, especially with males...and are
also a fantastic way to compliment braids or curly extensions (by
having just the front half of the head done, for example)
The same applies to cornrows as with braids, if synthetic hair is
also added you will find the cornrows will last much longer - and
this also allows for extra colours to be added.
Cornrows with only your natural hair will last just a few weeks before
they require re-tightening. |
